We caught up with Guy Gillingwater to talk more about diving and to introduce you to our latest #HammondCrew Ambassador.
Hello Guy, tell us a bit about yourself.
My names Guy Gillingwater and I have been diving now for over 13 years. I was living in Tulum for the past four years cave diving and working as a dive instructor. COVID-19 sadly killed the industry so now I work as a commercial diver, diving for scallops off the west coast of Scotland. Hence my call to Hammond Drysuits.
Why Hammond?
The water off the west coast of Scotland is a lot cooler (in fact freezing) in comparison to Mexico. I needed a drysuit I can depend on and one that is going to last, as I will be spending a lot of time in the water on the hunt for scallops.
The products are Made-to-Measure, by hand in the UK to my measurements, so it’s the perfect fit for me. I am also very proud to be British purchasing and representing British Products.
My Kit.
A Hammond Made-to-Measure HDS Pro X Black Drysuit, and either my CoreTek or CoreTek X thermals, which when combined keep me very cosy underwater.
Stand out feature for you.
I love the material. It’s so strong. I’m working in it, all day long and I never worry about ripping it or snagging it on anything.
What is your favourite place to dive, and why?
Baja California, Mexico. It has cooler water and bigger animals, one time I saw over 300 hundred eagle and mobula rays swimming together.
A place I would like to dive, and why?
Galapagos Islands. It has lots of sharks!!!?
What do you never leave the house without?
My trusty Go Pro, I’m always getting up to spontaneous and random adventures! (We look forward to seeing these videos ??!)
